Cala Records Releases AMERICAN TANGO Featuring World Premiere Recordings Of Works For Cello and Piano, Cello and Timpani, and Cello and Marimba, Mark Motycka, Cello

CALA Records is pleased to announce the realese of an exciting and innovative CD of world premiere cello recordings with piano, timpani, and marimba.

American Tango features works by William Bolcom, David Ott, David Maves, and Vincent Persichetti. The featured artist on this CD is Mark Motycka, cello.

With his colleagues, Svetlana Rodionova, piano and Dwight Thomas, timpani and marimba, Mr. Motycka has fashioned a breakthrough in recorded works of American composers for cello.

Mr. Motckya performs widely as a chamber musician as well as with the Omaha Symphony and as Principal Cellist with the Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, both in Nebraska. He has studied with Nathaniel Rosen, Janos Starker and Stephen Geber. In Omaha, he has appeared on the "Bagels and Bach" series at the Joslyn Museum where he will appear again this year (October 5 and November 2, 1997).

In addition to these world premiere recordings, Mssrs. Bolcom, Maves, and Ott have included recorded comments about their compositions which can be found at the end of the CD.
